tracking

Because they are predators, cats can exhibit a singular attention span towards anything that comes within their field of view. Doesn’t mean they’re going to attack, but they do pay careful attention. Joan likes to track activity around her, no matter where she is. She loves to lie on this towel I leave for the cats on the kitchen table and keep an eye on the kitchen, out into the main part of the house, and even into part of the T.V. room and the back door to the screened in porch.

Joan was tracking my wife as she moved through the kitchen and then behind me, at which point Joan locked her tortie gaze upon me.

affection

Normally I would wait to post this on a Caturday, but this moment between cat and human is worth sharing any time. For reasons known only to Luke, Luke likes to come up to me in the kitchen and reach up for affection from his person. Luke only does this in the mornings, in the kitchen. Not all mornings, but if Luke does it at all, it’s at that time and place. He’ll nuzzle my hand while I also give him gentle scritches between his ears.

All of the cats in this household are affectionate, with each showing affection in their own unique way. It’s only Luke, and that includes all the cats that have come before in this household, that have ever reached up like Luke does.
